Oof! I think Fran knew I did those kettlebell swings yesterday and decided to take advantage of me.
7:33 (would have been a bit faster, but my last pullup wasn't chin over bar, so I redid it :))
Last time I did this, I used 35#, so I'm glad I used 40# this time.
Red band on pullups--don't have kipping down enough yet to be able to do so many in a row unassisted.
Awesome job, roosters! I love the intensity y'all bring every time I workout with y'all!
Sirkis - tks.
Could not bare facing you with anything less than the suck #.
Vic - how many Stromboli's did you eat yesterday? Remember the factor of 6 Rolling Rock's. One pie must be washed down with 6 RRs.
C u soon.
5:55 @ 85#
The last time I did Fran at 85# was October and my time was 7:28! New PR by over 1:30!
Kat, my back isn't sore from the KBs, but my shoulders are.
Sam and Carrie- I wouldn't say killed it, but had fun!
Linda, j, ant, and ryan- awesome job. You guys gave it to Fran.
J- if that is the first time you did it, you knocked butt. Definitely faster than my pr. Keep it up
3:48 Rx'd. PR.
Hands = Done.
Ant - CRUSHED it!!
Anna - Welcome to the Rooster Crew
Roosters - Every single person came, saw, and conquered this morning, great performance by everyone, very inspiring! Spence thanks for the push bro, sub 3 will come soon enough I promise.
First time doing Fran...6:29 Rx'd. Gotta say, I can't wait for my second crack at this one. Sub 5:00 next go around or bust!
What a strong performance all the way around by the Rooster Crew!
A couple things...
1) Victoria, sorry I missed you at WCCF but everyone was impressed with your skillz and even more so with the type of person you are. You absolutely kill't it up here.
B) Can't believe I am going to miss Fran by one day but the chance see my man Jay Hova live in the CHI tonight is too good to pass up. Good luck to all and from what Sam, Victoria, and Wes (Crossfit Austin) have told me, you guys are an unreal group of athletes and people and I can't wait to join. I hope to be in the box tomorrow for my first official workout as a member of CFDC.
Let's DO WORK.
Thanks Vic! I still am using a band for my pullups and I only used 33lb bar so I'm sure that helped my time but it felt good!
Carrie- YES! I'm still shaky... I don't know if anyone caught this but my foot looked like thumper in the band I was shaking so much, I was close to laughing... close
Neal - wow way to knock off 3 minutes! You looked so strong during the whole thing too! Nice work!
Another day in the office...great moves made this morning. So many victories: sub 7s, sub 6s, sub 5s, and sub 4s, unassisted pullups, and some movin thrusters. I don't post too often but I have to let the 6 & 7 know...you are appreciated...you got what it takes.
Wow...the Roosters have set the bar - and it is high.
Rab (I can't call you Turtle) - hook me up with a Hova shirt..... find me a soft to the touch yet phat looking one.
Way to go Linda . . . always setting the bar high and representing for the ladies!!
Chase and Ant . . . what can I say!! Amazing!!
Victoria hurry back home! We miss you here, but thanks for doing us proud in the Windy City.
Mel, looking forward to the suck factor that comes with this one! See you tonight!
Dear Fran,
I have heard so much about you over the past 64 days. I am nervous and excited about our first introduction later today. You must be a very special girl.
I met your sister Kelly the other day and, I must say, she was not very nice to me. I am sure that our time together will be better than I can imagine.
I will be thinking of you until then.
Yours truly,
Calves
Hey I got an email to RSVP to the Fader Party in Austin it's Major Lazer, Matt and Kim, DJ AM and more. It's at Speakeasy and it's gonna be nuts, if anyone wants in here is the link to RSVP. Also going to Spoon Saturday and pry floating Saturday afternoon...

This article in the NYTimes about a 24-Hour "Death Race" somehow reminded me of CrossFit...
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/07/sports/07deathrace.html?_r=1&pagewante...
I like that there are other challenges like lighting fires and naming presidents. I could be a great asset to a team if MATH were part of the Death Race.
Crossfit Dallas,
This will be short.
I volunteer at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. This year, the volunteers are raising money for the hospital by sponsoring the Mesquite Championship Rodeo -- August 8th, 2009. All funds raised from this event will go to the Volunteer Wish List, which directly benefits patient care for children. Wish List items include blood pressure monitors, wheelchair equipment, games, books and funds for renovation of the hospital cafeteria. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital specializes in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions such as scoliosis, hip disorders and limb length differences, as well as certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia.
The really neat thing about this hospital is that since it was established 1921, it has never charged a patients family for their services.
Ticket vouchers are available at the discounted price of $10 and the Mesquite Championship Rodeo has generously agreed to donate 50% of every voucher sold to TSRHC. You can purhcase vouchers by contacting TSRHC’s Volunteer Services Department at (214) 559-7825 or myself. Vouchers will be redeemed for tickets at the box office. Furthermore, we have sponsorships for sale starting at $250.
If you do not want to go to the rodeo but would like to donate to the hospital, that would be greatly appreciated as well.
No pressure - just thought I would let you all know.
Jacky Boy....Nice work today bro!
I'm thinking that we need to have Pantomime blaring at 6pm tonight when I take on Fran. I mean loud....realllllly loud!!
Sam - not enough Incubus on the iPod!!
Ant - let's organize a CFDC night out at the Rodeo!!
Hi all -- I'm one of Casey's good friends. He turned me onto Crossfit, and I have been completely addicted since my first day (4/16/09.) I go to Crossfit Center City in Philadelphia. Our programming is to do the mainsite WOD one day behind schedule. On mainsite rest days, my gym does "skills day" where we can really work on whatever we want...strength stuff, metcons, pullups, whatever. Well, Casey said, "why don't you do Fran? my CF is doing Fran today." Soooooo I did it. I had never done a thruster with the barbell before today (we use a lot of sandbags at my CF, and I had always used the 25lb sandbag for thrusters.) My time was 7:09, using the 45lb barbell and the "old purple band" (the lightest/"stretchiest" band for assisted pullups.) Thanks for the inspiration Dallas Crossfit! And I'm ANXIOUSLY awaiting the Dallas CF T-shirt that Casey sent me. Can't wait to wear it to CFCC!
Ant - I'm definitely interested! It would be great fun to make going to the rodeo a CFDC event, as Samz and Mel suggested. I'm in, and I would think Kason would be, as well. He gets back from basic on the 1st, woohoo!!!
6:09 time,no-band pu's, 75#'s thruster
It is nice to be back with the Roosters. The Nooners and Team 7 rock but the Rooster's have just been home. Mer and Dean need to quit sleeping in....
Carrie- very good work.
Linda- very cool how you just quitely go about your work.
Ant, very special what you are doing with Scottish Rite. I'll contact you off-line....
Ant - Rodeo's are sooo fun! I would be down if I wasn't gonna be in Chi for Lolla, good luck with your fundraising! P.S. I lied, I'm volunteering at the Childrens Medical Center off Harry Hines... it was early haha
Great workout this morning. I continue to be inspired by you guys. 75# thruster and help with pull-ups. 7:10. Already looking forward to this one next time around.
Ant, I will definitly help you on Scottish Rite! Great cause.
I will see you all at the 7:00 p.m. class. Last time I did Fran (Mar. 20): 9:36 with 65# and then 45# and the blue band then the gray band then jumped the last set.
Tonight, the goal is sub 8 min with 75# and rx'd kipping pu's.
Wade - my man....I will try to be there at 5pm. I've got to get Sophie, so I might have to do the 6pm, but I will try for 5.
Jack, I don't think Koy is coming with us to the Incubus show....
:-(
Wow, you all did awesome this morning! Ant, way to go on Fran, and what you're doing with Scottish Rite is great. Count me in, I'd love to help. Linda, as always - amazing.
I didn't do all that well today, but at least I set a 55# Fran PR - 8:57. Shows there's still a lot to work on. Carin, thank you for your help and encouragement! Dave, you killed it today.
Hey Mel, remember yesterday how I said I didn't really get rips on my hands anymore? Umm...I have to take that back. :)
Scott W. once you get the kipping down your pu's will rock...Patrick the fact that you did Fran RX'd is by no means pathetic....
I know we are all CFDC teammates but there are all these Crossfit Games that are fun to dream of competeing in and qualifying for (but may be unrealistic for some of us). What if some day we did an intra squad comp between classes- Nooner's vs Rooster's, Team 7 vs Team 5 etc (we could balance teams if need be)...may be a terrible idea but just a thought....
Wayne, I think that's a great idea. I had been thinking how it would be cool to do some sort of competition and tie it to a charity that we could help. Maybe that could be it?
Wayne - we did something similar awhile back. Every body involved promised to post their times and we would declare a victor each day. Most wins at end of week took the crown. I don't think it went very far as after the first day we roosters decided to wait until after 6pm to post out times so that they wouldn't know what they had to beat. Then we got into discussions about bodyweight and height and programming favoritism. Great discussions and probably overall the most intense week of exercise for me. But, organize it, and I guarantee there will be competitors. I'm in.
Jaimie- I have been thinking about that as well. How can we tie Crossfit into something that means a lot to us or kids or the needy. This may play, everyone pays in and we give out etc...
T- it would have to be a one day deal (carry it on over a week and people lose interest)-body weight and all that is irrelevant- you have a weight that everyone can handle as well as running and bodyweight stuff and scale it and try to make the teams even....I'll get with SP.
His kip looks like it helps when doing 30 for time. I'm sure he could string a few together if he wanted, but he did 30 in 4:06, which is an 8 second pace. His first 10 he didnt even have to do a dip. He came into support position just below lockout.
Hmmm...being as old as I am, I remember the movie Night Shift with Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler. But an owl could kick a rooster's a**...tough call. I say we put it to a vote.
If you're in the 7pm class, would you prefer:
1. Night Owls
2. Night Shift
Hey all. I have just recovered from last weeks 30 bwsquats and 1000 meter row.
I recall that there were some "rules/etiquette" up on the board that I didn't read all of them and I want to makes sure I am not missing something important for class tonight (in general).
Either 7:46 or 6:46... no PR today but definitely a better athlete for having done it.
Andrew do you happen to remember what my time was? I was a little out of it at the end of that one.
5:18 tonight - not PR, but didn't break up any thurster or pull ups - I think the hardest part of the work out was the walk between the 2... Felt like I was gonna pass out - Linda, Dee, Lea - thanks for the push.
Ms. Lea - hope your tooth is ok, I am so proud of you for doing Fran will all kipping pull ups and no band.... - NO MORE BAND FOR YOU FROM THIS POINT FORWARD!!!! You rocked it.....
1. First Fran. 7:15 @ 35#, ring rows. My goal is by August 7 to have 10 good pullups with a green band.
2. I prefer Night Owls. Sounds more mysterious and less factory worker-ish than "night shift."
3. Holla, Megan. Bloody hands and finished like a rock star as usual. Love being partners with Megan--she's tough and makes me want to be more excellent.
That is all.
7:49; 40#, red band pullups. 53 second PR. Hopefully I can work on my pullups and try kipping next time. Thanks Danielle and Mary for your encouragement!
Boom-love to break 100 posts again. Running group, 6am Starbucks in the Highland Park Village if any Crossfitters want to join us tomorow. 5 miles on a golf course (easy on the knees) and then post run coffee b.s.
7:57 Rx'd. - pull ups were the weakness. i was going one at a time. my hands we all tore up from yesterday. still a PR over my first Rx Fran (10:16) on 6/5. An improvement of 2:19 in one month! 2 days in a row full of stoke.
Way to kill it noon crew. Good working with ya Aaron!
Congrats on your first Fran Jodee! Banded pullups are in yo forecast!
First Fran: 12:12 total fail.. thrusters at 65#, rings sub for kips (still learning).. LOTS of room to improve until the next one.. thanks to Wes in the 7pm for keeping me going
Dear Fran,
Thank you for showing me who the bitch is in this r-ship.
10:28 Rx
Horror show. It all hurts.
Ant - what you did today is just insane. You are simply amazing.
Wade - I know we will do much better next time.
Ty - you were 7:26 - way to gut it out.
7:00 @ 75#... first Fran ever, so I'll take it for now. Looking to improve a lot from here (weight and time). Mike nice work, way to push through the pain. Thanks for the support.
Thanks Mel and Linda! Mel & Dee -you ladies kicked some booty! My tooth is still, thanks for checking :) Just a busted lip, but nothing horrible.
6:28@ 45#
6:48 about 2 minutes slower than my pr, but some days you are up for Fran and some days you aren't. I obviously was not. I think I have messed up my pull-up by lingering at the top to long. I need to stop that now.
Corey - Awesome. I think I was trying to keep up with you until you finished while I was doing 15 pull-ups.
Tyler; your fran time from yesterday was 6:46. How is our other partner?
Anyone interested, I posted an 8:03 on my first Fran. 75# and light band helped but Tyler made that deal work.

Mel- show'em how it's done!
Vic - when you come back? Miss ya
Ahh.... I have another 3 weeks with the family and the shore. Missing all cfdc!
Is anyone else's back aching from yesterdays WOD? Perhaps my KB technique is sub-par...
Nice Job Linda!!!!! WOO HOO!!! I believe that is a PR for you!!! GREAT JOB!
Sam and Carrie- I wouldn't say killed it, but had fun!

Does anyone remember the nickname I came up with for the 7:00 p.m. class? Night Shift? I can't remember. I'm old.
I saw that too, Travis. It was a cool looking kip but he couldn't string any together. I don't know if it's his kipping style or just weak grip.
Here's the vid: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFitMontreal_Mizar30MUpsAlternate...
eric claims he could do it in under 3

Democracy!
Casey, Night Owl was a super hero. I don't know of any super hero rooster.
Jer...don't forget Foghorn Leghorn! Of course, he got beat up by that little chicken hawk dude.
-= NEWS FLASH =-
Eric, just ate 3 cookies.
The Number One Rule of Crossfit is....You always talk about Crossfit.
Unfortunately, I'm going to miss this one due to a minor car accident - was hit by a little old man. :(
Can't say I'm too terribly disappointed to miss Fran, though. haha
5:18 tonight - not PR, but didn't break up any thurster or pull ups - I think the hardest part of the work out was the walk between the 2... Felt like I was gonna pass out - Linda, Dee, Lea - thanks for the push.

nice Corey!
Go Jesuit.
75#
pull-ups rx'd
epic fail...cut off at 10:00 min.
I felt like the incredible hulk was sitting on my chest during that second set of thrusters. oh well...lots of room to improve.
9:27 rx'ed, like a 10-20 second pr. I'll take it
